La moffetta o puzzola americana è tenuta come animale da compagnia in alcune zone degli Stati Uniti, dove è legale. Per ora, in Italia non è ancora molto diffusa. Appartiene alla famiglia dei mustelidi, come il furetto e il visone ed è un animale molto affettuoso se cresce fin da piccolo a contatto con gli esseri umani.
Domesticated skunks are kept as pets in some U.S. states, where they are legal. In Italy, at the moment, skunks are not very widespread. They belong to the mustelid family, like ferrets and minks, they are lovely pets if they grow and live with people.
Questi mustelidi sono onnivori e sono sempre affamati, ma in cattività devono seguire una dieta specifica perché tendono ad ingrassare facilmente. Si accoppiano fra febbraio e marzo e la gestazione dura più di due mesi. Partoriscono generalmente una volta all’anno una cucciolata di 3-5 piccoli. In natura vivono nel continente americano dal Canada al Messico. In cattività vivono circa 10 anni.
They are omnivorous and always hungry, but pet skunks have to follow a diet, because they tend to become fat. They mate between February and March and after more than 2 months gestation mother skunks have 3-5 young. Generally they have only a litter a year. In the wild they live in America from Canada to Mexico. In captivity they usually live 10 years.

maschio albino-albicocca, siamo andati a prenderlo in Germania. Non è deghiandolato, ma non ha mai spruzzato. E' simpatico e curioso, l'ho chiamato Rubino perché ha gli occhi rossi come la pietra preziosa.
He is an albino-apricot male, we bought him in Germany. He is not descented but he has never sprayed. He is funny and curious. His name means "ruby" because he has red eyes.
